Description
As an employee of Gislaved Municipality, you are a co-creator in your workplace.
You are given the opportunity and expected to contribute to the development of the organization through your knowledge and experience. Here, respect for differences and the equal value of all people is fundamental.
The Cultural Pedagogical Unit in Gislaved Municipality encompasses music school, dance, theater, and film activities. The percussion teaching has a clear artistic and pedagogical focus with a well-structured framework that serves as a platform for development.
Our percussion activities rest on four main areas:
- Drumcorps – precision, ensemble playing, and physical musicality for students aged approximately 12–19 years.
- Symphony Orchestra – classical repertoire, sound ideals, and ensemble playing for students who wish to broaden their knowledge in percussion.
- PULS – rhythmic awareness, groove, and bodily grounding in percussion ensemble for high school students who want to take the next step in their development.
- Minidrum – playful and accessible teaching for younger students, where piano students are also given the opportunity to play mallet instruments.
This structure is the stable foundation for continued artistic and pedagogical development. We are looking for someone who wants to manage and gradually develop this direction together with colleagues and students.
Responsibilities
You will teach students of various ages and levels – from beginners to advanced. Teaching will take place both individually and in groups.
Your responsibilities include:
- Being responsible for teaching percussion (drum set, mallet instruments, timpani, etc.).
- Actively contributing to ensemble and orchestra activities.
- Collaborating with other educators and artistic leaders within the unit.
- Teaching students who have chosen percussion in the music program of the aesthetic program.
- Being involved in shaping the artistic direction for percussion within the organization in dialogue with colleagues and students.
The position entails artistic responsibility where you both represent and further develop the subject of percussion within the municipality.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- Relevant university education in percussion or another education that the employer deems equivalent.
- Documented pedagogical experience and the ability to meet students with different needs and expressions.
- The ability to teach broadly within the field of percussion, including drum set, mallet instruments, and timpani. Experience from one or more of our main areas is an advantage.
- A desire to help build a program where quality, creativity, and long-term sustainability are central.
Experience in ensemble leadership and orchestral playing is meritorious.
Start date is August 10, 2026. In the spring of 2026, there will be an opportunity to shadow current staff to gradually familiarize yourself with the structure, routines, and current tasks of the organization.
Your collaboration is deeply connected to your ability to cooperate and participate in your and the organization's development. For us, this means having a good collaboration with your manager and colleagues, both in your own workplace and in the broader municipal organization. You meet everyone with a high level of service, kindness, and quality through customer and service focus. You take responsibility for being involved in organizational issues and are solution-oriented.
We place great importance on personal suitability and that your view on collaboration aligns with ours.
We apply a background check (extract from the criminal record) as a form of suitability assessment for all who are offered employment in activities where there is direct and regular contact with children and youth.
Do you want to be part of our success? Welcome with your application!
